In a recent statement, UNML youth leader Mahesh Basnet expressed strong objections to the trending “Gen Z Nepo Baby Campaign,” describing it as neither a free nor a creative movement. He criticized it as a revivalist and anarchistic trend that weaponizes social media and print media to launch defamatory campaigns against the state, its institutions, and established political parties and leaders.
Basnet highlighted the troubling use of social media to distort personal family events, specifically referencing the marriage of his daughter, which he claimed has been subjected to jealousy-driven misinformation through TikTok. He firmly challenged anyone who claims that his family has improperly benefited from nepotism or state resources and invited them to provide evidence.
He asserted that his family’s lifestyle and assets are completely transparent, and he is proud to validate this publicly. Basnet emphasized that any activities intended to tarnish the reputation of his daughter, a medical professional, and his son-in-law, a public servant, are criminal in nature, causing mental distress and spreading misinformation.
Furthermore, he condemned attempts by certain controversial figures associated with RASWPA to link personal disputes to his name. Basnet called for immediate legal action against such criminal elements and urged that platforms like TikTok should not be used to spread hatred and criminal activities.
